Kids Summer Reading

I'm excited because I think that the big boys might finally be old enough for me to try reading easy chapter books to them this summer. We tried it briefly and they seemed to actually be able to focus on it for a few minutes-miracle of miracles! I have a few in mind, but its been ages (obviously) since I looked for or read chapter books on that level. I'd love suggestions on some for little boys. (And if you look at my sidebar, some for me too :)

Emily, I'm not sure what level you're thinking of exactly but my kids have enjoyed the Magic Tree House series, Flat Stanley, The Water Horse, we've even read the Narnia series to them (even though it's a bit above them, they still liked to listen). There's a great series called The GReat Illustrated Classics that are simplified versions of things like Swiss Family Robinson, Little Women, and a lot of other classics, that the kids have really liked. I'll keep thinking.

Some good books I've read lately: The Thirteenth Tale, I Capture the Castle, and The Enchanted April were all very very good.

Magic Tree House has been one of our Favorites too.

I was going to say Magic Tree House as well, so it must be true.

By the way, I was going to suggest a classic from our childhood--Mrs. PiggleWiggle! Charlotte's Web is fun, too. I have lots more suggestions, but you'll have to call me.
